So you forgot your Galaxy Note 4 password, or maybe there was a typo when you first set it (in which case you should try some variations and hopefully that will be the answer). However, if you simply cannot remember the password or guess it, then be prepared for the worst: only if you have a Google Account associated with the phone will you be able to avoid a factory reset. Unfortunately, if you didn’t set up a Google account or entered a security question on the phone, you will have to unlock it by doing a factory reset. While this is not difficult, it does mean you will lose any data saved on your device.
In case you have a Google Account connected to your Note 4, you simply need to follow few easy steps.
Step 1: Enter (wrong) Password
It doesn’t matter what password you use at this point, the aim is to insert it 5 times so the lock screen pops up the message “Tap Next to unlock with security question or try again in 30 seconds. You have 5 tries left”
Step 2: Security Question or Google Account Details
Once Note 4 prompts you to unlock the device via security question you should press Next so that the device will ask you to opt for Answer Question or Enter Google Account Details.
Of course, if you remember the answer to your security question, you should opt for that method, but if you don’t then you can input your Google account details to unlock Note 4. Simply insert your username and password and you will have note unlocked and be ready to change the password from Settings.
